The Management and staff of Campus Broadcasting Services, operators of ATL FM 100.5 MHz and online television network TV UCC, have officially launched the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afahye lineup of activities.
The launch took place at the Kofi Totobi Quakyi Studios of the Campus Broadcasting Services Centre. This year’s Afahye is already underway, with the enforcement of the ban on funerals, drumming, and noisemaking in effect.
Speaking at the event, Secretary to the 2025 Oguaa Fetu Afahye Planning Committee, Elicot Nana Kweku Okyere III announced a vibrant lineup of events.
These include carnivals, youth colloquia, a cooking competition, musical concerts, a community football gala, and traditional rites such as the “Akoms Night” and the grand durbar.
A key highlight will be the ATL FM Bakatue Regatta, organised by ATL FM in collaboration with the Oguaa Traditional Council.
In this event, Asafo Companies will compete in a canoe race on the Fosu Lagoon. The regatta will be preceded by the ceremonial “first catch” from the lagoon, which will be presented to the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II. Nkum Asafo Company will be defending their championship title in this year’s race.
Elicot Nana Kweku Okyere III urged residents and visitors to observe all festival protocols to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration.
The 61st Oguaa Fetu Afahye will climax with a grand durbar on 6th September, 2025 and is being held under the theme: “Innovate to Elevate: Harnessing the Creative Economy for Sustainable Growth.”
Speaking at the launch, which was broadcast live, Deputy Manager of Campus Broadcasting Services, Mr. Daniel Opoku, popularly know as “Barrister Daniels” announced that CBS, with the support of the University of Cape Coast, is fully prepared for both the Bakatue Regatta and the Masquerade Carnival.
